Nothing to record yet? Capta ships a sample take. Ten minutes from an empty library to a video you could put above the fold, and every step works the same on your own recording.
The hero video on capta.cam was made exactly this way: the sample take, one look, the built-in beat, no timeline. This guide walks the same path so you can see what the automatic edit does before you point it at your own app.
With nothing in the library, the editor offers Try the sample. Capta makes a twenty-second synthetic take of a fake invoicing app called Meridian (a dashboard, a click on New Invoice, a form typed in, Save) with a 120 BPM test track beside it, and opens it with the edit already made: a zoom on each click, the typing sped up, the pauses gone. It also lives in Recordings as "Sample: Meridian invoicing", so you can come back to it.
The first look plays from the master while the smooth preview builds; a small pill shows the progress. Scrubbing is a beat slower until it lands.
Open Style. Choose a mesh backdrop from the gallery, switch on Living backdrop so it drifts slowly, and set Device to MacBook. The frame zooms and glides with the recording and casts the shadow. Padding, corners and shadow are sliders; Save Current Look… keeps the whole set as a preset for every take after this one.
The sample already has music, so play it once and watch: every cut sits on the beat, and the whooshes and clicks ride the moments. Under Sound you can swap the track for one of the three built-in loops, a Creative Commons track from the online search, or a file of your own; Capta reads the tempo on the Mac. If a zoom lands somewhere you would not have chosen, drag it or stretch its edge. A stretch you want gone: ⌥I and ⌥O mark it on the filmstrip, ⌥⌫ cuts it.
A Creative Commons track needs its credit wherever the video goes. The Sound tab shows the line with a Copy button, and it is added to the written post for you.
Open Cards. The title, a caption and a post are already written from what happened in the take, by the built-in templates or by a small model you can download once in Settings → Models. Edit any of them, switch on the Title card and pick one of the six designs. The post's Copy button is what you paste under the video on launch day.
Press Export and pick a preset. X / LinkedIn gives a 1080p MP4 any landing page can autoplay muted; YouTube gives 4K at 60 fps, and HEVC halves the bytes. Save Poster writes the frame under the playhead as a PNG, which is the still the page shows before the video plays. Drag the Export button straight into your CMS, Slack or Finder.
Once your own app is on screen, the steps are the same: press ⌥⌘R, click through one flow, press it again.
No. It is drawn frame by frame by Capta itself, with the exact click and typing track alongside, so the edit has something to work with. That is also why it is the same on every Mac, which makes it useful for comparing looks.
